Our workspaces will soon be smarter than the people inside of them.

Alright, that’s a bit dramatic, but it drives home a certain point that not enough business owners and managers pay attention to – whether you like it or not, office automation is here to stay. From automated remote access to company servers to augmented and virtual reality, the technology needed to automate offices is already here.

Implementation is playing catch-up to the available technology right now, but by 2020 we’ll see some fairly impressive advancements in the use of automation in most offices.

Specifically, we’ll see the following:

  • Virtual Reality and Wearable Tech: This will likely eliminate physical computers, and wearable tech will eliminate the need for human translators.
  • Remote Access Control: Products, assets, and real-time support will be delivered to mobile devices remotely.
  • Facial Recognition Tech: This will allow facial scans to take the place of passwords and building keys.
  • Beacons: In communal office spaces, beacon technology will provide real-time data on room usage.
